Repeats

I've done the notation for a song that has a verse consisting of a repeated melody followed by a chorus.
I can enter a repeat bar line to specify where the repeat runs from OK
But if I try to enter the bar line to instruct the repeat, the program inserts a repeat at the beginning and end of the bar concerned - not quite what I had in mind!

Screenshot attached.

The documentation is a bit sparse on that subject.
Any ideas?
