Automatic, unrequested Region selection

Today when I attempted to start working on a new arrangement, upon pushing record, Music Composer immediately highlited the bass clef staff on its own. I went to the Region selection window to see if I have inadvertently chose or selected anything but I did not. Any suggestions? Thanks!
