2. Can't pick the appropriate dotted quaver/semiquaver beam groups for any of the meters so composer gets confused right away with the first bar right...

Agree on point 2 especially. Just installed the composer trial on an 8.3" windows 8 tablet with 1920x1200 resolution. The icons are very very small, too small to be useable.
Pinch zoom would be nice...

Beams across staves

Another thing I wasn't able to work out was drawing beams across staves.
Just installed the preview now and can't figure it out.
Is it possible?
